Grace Notes Highlights

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. (Proverbs 11:25)
A Generous People
Why are we to be generous? I believe there are two reasons for us as Christians to be generous, one looks back while the other looks forward. The first reason that we should be generous is because of God’s generosity with us! God has chased after us in ways to defy explanation and logic. God showed generosity to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden when before banishing them he made them garments out of animal skins. God was generous with us when he sent Moses to lead his people out of Egypt and into the promised land. God was generous when he sent Jesus to be our savior. With these examples and many more from the Bible we see God’s faithfulness and generosity to us. God could have left us to our devices, leaving us in our sin. Instead God decided that he would generously intercede on our behalf. Therefore we are generous because of what God has already done.

The second reason to be generous occurs when we look forward into God’s preferred future! When we look forward we get to see God continuing to change lives. I know that God has radically altered the course of my life because of the grace that he has shown me. I know that he has radically altered the lives of countless others throughout history. That being the case we are generous so that God will continue to use Grace UMC as a place to change lives. Every time we give we are able to minister to more people, every time we minister is another opportunity for God to change a life!

Be generous because of what God has done, and because of what God is going to do!

Below are the Titles and Scriptures for my messages in November. I encourage you to take a few minutes on Saturday evening or Sunday morning each week to take a look at the scripture for the coming Sunday message and see where the Holy Spirit leads you.

THANKSGIVING BASKETS

Please bring in food items to the church from October 15-November 19. We hope to provide 10 baskets this year. Please contact Gale Spatafore or the church office 330-499-2330 if you know of a family who could use a Thanksgiving basket.

There will be paper feathers naming items needed for the baskets at each service on October 8. There will also be boxes outside the doors of each service to place items in.

If you would like to donate money for turkeys, please put it in an envelope and mark it Thanksgiving Baskets and leave in the church office.

Please contact Gale with any questions. Thank you in advance, we always help families at this time of year.

AMAZING GRACE SENIORS

The Amazing Grace Seniors are growing again! At our October meeting we had 18 people present for a great meal and fellowship. Shirley Kalb read a story about the Bible written by a child. It was quite amusing seeing the Bible from the eyes of a child.
We will be meeting again at Walther’s Twin Cafe on Applegrove Street NW on November 2 at 11:30 A.M. Just stop in and we will be in a private room. We do order from their menu and breakfast in available.
We will be making plans for our Christmas meeting, so come and help us plan. For any questions call Leland Spencer at 330-499-3860.
