We can be agents of change in a toxic culture of random mass violence only when we ourselves are transformed. Changing the channel or turning off TV crime shows is a step in transformation. Likewise, choosing to support organizations with uplifting, positive values can help us to take another step towards cultural transformation.
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2
Add My Name to the List
We are not simply spectators or innocent bystanders in a culture where crime and violence is valued for entertainment. The task of stemming violence is not just something that is for law makers, the police, Homeland Security, and the FBI. We need not wait for Congress to act or someone else to do something. Our lives are woven into the fabric of the culture we want to change. We can influence change by the simple choices we make daily.
In making this pledge, we are doing our part by giving the industry which makes a big profit by sensationalizing crime, violence and death, one less consumer and giving organizations which help children and youth one more supporter.
Together, we can be part of a movement which brings change, much like a little yeast added to a big lump of dough or a pebble thrown into a pond which causes a ripple. Thank you for your support.
