Grace Notes                          June 2018
News from North Canton Grace United Methodist Church

23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must
deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For
whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their
life for me will save it. (Luke 9:23-24)
Following Jesus
Following Jesus is not easy! Jesus doesn’t ask for part of
our lives, he demands all of us. To follow Jesus is to put him at the
center of our lives and devote ourselves fully to him.
I remember when I was younger walking into a dry cleaners
in my hometown, and there on the wall was a miniature pantheon
of gods that included various “deities” from the Buddhist faith.
Then sitting next to those gods was a picture of Jesus. In that moment
I thought it was odd that someone would place a picture of
Jesus amongst all of those idols. Today I wonder if many of us do
the same thing, placing Jesus among a pantheon of idols such as
success, materialism and sports, amongst others.
True worship of Jesus is demands that we clean out all of
our idols, pick up or cross, and follow Jesus and only Jesus.
Below are the Titles and Scriptures for my messages in
May. I encourage you to take a few minutes on Saturday evening or
Sunday morning each week to take a look at the scripture for the
coming Sunday message and see where the Holy Spirit leads you.
